Ben Quilty, Lisa Slade, Justin Paton, Richard Flanagan
Ben Quilty is being presented as a celebration of the last two decades of work from this Australian artist. It coincides with a major retrospective of his work tracing social and political events he has tracked, from the current global refugee crisis to the complex social history of Australia, as he critiques notions of identity, patriotism and male rites of passage.
The book includes essays by Lisa Slade and Justin Paton, and a foreword by Richard Flanagan. Aboriginal elder Frank Young introduces a section which documents work when Ben Quilty collaborated and worked alongside Indgenous community members from the APY Lands.
